The Girls Write the Future Scholarship
As an organization proudly based in Canada and run by Canadians, we want to make sure that we’re contributing to gender equality in education both at home and abroad.
There is a significant gap between the enrolment of Indigenous and non-Indigenous women at Canadian universities. There are many historical social, economic and political reasons for this, including barriers to funding. To do our part in contributing to reconciliation, we’ve created a scholarship for Indigenous women to pursue an undergraduate education at any university across Canada.
This scholarship will cover up to $5000 of tuition fees per year for students beginning their studies at any accredited university in Canada.
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:
Identify as a woman,
Be Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit or Métis)
Be enrolled in an undergraduate-level programme at a recognised Canadian university
OR
Intend to begin an undergraduate-level programme in the upcoming academic year.
Have an overall high school GPA of 3.0/4.0, 75% or equivalent,
Have a proven track record of community service and engagement.
Applications are open until Friday, 1 August 2025 before midnight local time. We will do our best to respond to your application within 2 weeks of the deadline. We may respond to your application before the deadline, so we encourage you to submit it as early as possible.
You are welcome to submit your application in either English or French.
Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions, comments or concerns about the scholarship or the application process.
